Price can't be beat vs performance July 19, 2010 C. vang Bought this in lieu of the $44 dollar one from Olympus. Works great/fits perfectly and I didn't notice any difference in battery life vs. the original one that came with the unit. IMO it's just as good as the Olympus one...at a fraction of the cost.
Surprisingly Excellent July 12, 2010 Cather Steincamp I bought a couple of these batteries when I bought my e-620. I didn't want to spend the money on an official battery, but I did not want to risk a battery going dead in mid-shoot and not being able to continue. I figured a couple of these would at least let me finish off the shoot, even if they weren't great.
As it turns out, they are great. They appear to last longer than the one that came with the camera. I've been using them for about a year now. If they died tomorrow, I'd consider it money well spent.
Inexpensive and works June 10, 2010 Dathon (Texas) I bought two of these batteries to try out with my E-PL1. They work as advertised, and look almost identical to the OEM battery. They fit my E-PL1 perfectly, so not sure why other people are having problems. The only thing I found that is different, is that the battery casing feels a little hollow in one area, compared to the original Olympus battery. When I tap it in the middle with my finger, it doesn't sound as solid as the original battery. The weight feels about the same though. As for the capacity, I haven't used it for a long time yet, so don't know if it will last as long or longer than the OEM battery. Also I wish I could test the voltage coming out of it, as I hope it is safe to use and won't cause any harm to my camera. Can anyone test the voltage and amperage output?
Great replacement battery June 5, 2010 Jittapat Bunnag (WI, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have no problem at all on E-P1 battery compartment.
The battery life is very good and comparable to genuine Olympus batt.
I have purchased one and want the second, unfortunately, the price goes up
(temporarily) for no reason so I have to go for another brand.
This battery life is obviously longer than other after-market brands with
comparable price (for less than $10).
I'm amazed! April 26, 2010 Chris MD (Parañaque City, Philippines) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought a 2-lens kit Olympus EPL-1 locally (Philippines) a month ago and it came with the original battery, of course. An original battery in the Philippines costs around P3,000 (a little over USD60)! And since I find it unreasonably expensive, I opted to look for the generic type as a back-up, which is practically non-existent yet in my country. Then I visited this site, saw this cheap version with pretty good reviews. I asked a friend from Pennsylvania to purchase it for me since she'll be visiting the country in less than a weeks time. And so, that's the story. Now for the review.
> Built: as if the original, if not for the label
> Fit: again, as if the original... PERFECT!
> Charging time: around 2 hours, just about 15-20 minutes longer than the original (maybe because it has a higher power rating at 1800 mAh)
> Duration per charge: AMAZING! I was already shooting more than 300 shots (with IS1 on, and occasional fill-in, and two 3-min vids) and the battery indicator was still in the half-way mark! I was still able to capture around 80 more shots before the camera shutdown. I thought I was using the original battery, only to be amazed upon removal from the compartment! It was a hectic day so I didn't remember what brand was in the compartment, LOL! It was just its first time use after initial complete charging compared to the original battery which gave me only around 250 on it's initial charge. After a few more cycles, it seems that the generic was outlasting the original by about 80-100 shots per charge! GOOD THING I ASKED MY FRIEND TO GET ME TWO OF THIS MAXIMAL POWER BLS-1!!! :D
One more thing, I experienced some episodes when the EPL-1's LCD would go blank, and the camera becoming unresponsive until after reboot, and the ISO & WB would go back to the default (both auto). I thought I was using the generic battery. Again, I was WRONG! It happened again on several occasions (re-charged on separate dates as well), but the LCD black-out NEVER happened with the MP BLS-1. Luckily, after the camera firmware update v1.1, the problem didn't happen anymore with the original battery.
