New Videographer at work February 5, 2010 J. Herrick (Howell, MI) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this video camera for my husband without knowing whether he would enjoy using a video camera. He has really enjoyed it. It is light, compact, fits in your pocket. You can take it everywhere. We are not sure how to connect the individual shoots into one cohesive video yet, but I'm sure he will work it out. The portability outweighs the limited zoom power and microphone so far.
Got a Flip to replace a broken camcorder... January 31, 2010 SH (Honolulu, HI United States) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
And have to say that I'm pretty happy with my purchase! It's so easy to use & SO portable!
Was a little disappointed with the zoom & at first had a hard time adjusting - b/c it's VERY different than using a camcorder but I've really taken to my Flip.
Uploading videos is super easy with the built-in USB! I have a mac & the only difference is that the Flip uploads to iphoto whereas my old camcorder uploaded to imovie directly - to create a dvd (or share videos via email), you have to import the video from iphoto to imovie to create a dvd. Just one extra step.
Have had no problems at all & videos/dvd's are great - picture & sound quality are excellent!!
Cheap & Easy - with oneflaw January 30, 2010 J. Aday (Mineola, TX) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased the Flip camera to record video for my website and blog. I've learned how to upload video to YouTube and Facebook, but not to put it on my website and blog. I haven't spent a lot of time researching it. The picture quality has clear and crisp images. I was extremely impressed by the videos it created. The file format did not allow me to plug my video into Windows Movie Maker. Like I said I am woefully ignorant. It may be easy to accomplish for others, but I haven't puzzled it out.
If you want to send videos to Facebook, Youtube or through email you will love this camcorder. I can't believe the video turned out so well. There is a learning curve for the operator to take a smooth video. Flip UltraHD Camcorder, 120 Minutes (White)
get a different battery! January 28, 2010 Kelsae D. Stentzel 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I love my flip ultra HD, but I gave up on flip's battery packs months ago. I went through two and kept having the same problem (with two different flip camcorders). Every time I plugged in my flip to charge, the battery would overheat within a few minutes and the safety fail would kick on and stop the charging process. I would have to take out the battery pack, let it cool down, then plug it in all over again and within a few minutes the cycle would repeat. Don't waste your time with this battery pack. Luckily, flip ultras and ultra hd's can use any AA battery, so I would recommend buying a different rechargeable battery. I personally use the Sanyo Eneloop 4 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargable Batteries w/ Charger and they are awesome! They come pre-charged, last forever, and best of all they don't overheat.
Amazing quality from such a small and simple gadget January 26, 2010 J. Reynolds (Bay Area, CA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
We bought this Flip for a long Summer trip in Europe and I'm super happy we did.
First of all, I should say that we already own 2, $1300 Canon Camcorders (one HD, one not), and although those are pretty good and fairly small, it is just too expensive and bulky, and sort of heavy, to take on a trip.
PROS: The Flip turns on quickly, is lightweight, VERY SIMPLE to operate (and I mean a monkey could figure it out), and the quality of the picture and sound is really amazing! Low light is a bit grainier, but still very good. The battery lasts long enough not to be annoyed.
CONS: Recharging is a little strange since the Flip is really too heavy to just plug into the outlet wall charger, and also is too thick to stand correctly when plugged into our USB of our laptops (MacBook and MacBook Pro), so we just use a USB extender and plug it in that way. It does charge that way, but makes several continuous beeps at first, so we are not sure if it is touchy or just needs to do that in order to recharge.
We are still amazed at how well this little video camera works, and so very happy since we have a 2 year old that requires quick turn on and great little snip-it shots.
Another thing to mention is that you can easily edit the Flip videos on most editing software, whereas our Canon ones can only be done on certain ones and even that is limited on what you can do.
Don't even hesitate on buying the Flip, but I'd probably recommend the Ultra HD over the regular one since the picture quality is really good.
Have fun!
